For Mike, the name “Bear” has always meant family.
His grandfather was known as “Papa Bear,” and that connection stayed with him as he grew up and raised children of his own. Over the years, bears kept finding their way into the family’s life—even appearing as the mascot on his children’s youth sports teams. When it came time to name the business, Bear felt natural: a familiar name with a personal history.
After a career in finance at Walmart, Mike took a different path—building a business alongside his family. What began with excavation grew into custom homes, remodeling, restoration, and home services. Today, Mike, his son Mickey, and his son-in-law Will continue to shape Bear around the relationships and responsibilities that come with working in people’s homes.
Our capabilities have expanded, but the commitment behind them remains personal.
